This podcast series focuses on the intersection of Consciousness and Self. This is our “Journey into Enlightenment.” At the core of human reality is Consciousness. Humans are self-defining creatures. We develop rule sets and stories that generate our experiences of reality. Consciousness is the state of awareness in each of us where our self-defined realities are only one of the many options in potential that could be expressed.
Each episode you will join Janet and her friends to gather in this core in Heart Centered Awareness. You will feel this state where time and space are malleable, potential is active and change in our day to day experiences can be felt in the moment. You will witness this sharing in the expansive variety of expressions of Consciousness, and as form and language in our physical and non-physical worlds. Experience new definitions in Self and join in the collective community we call Consciousness.
Feel the difference in the moment that can last a lifetime. Listen to episodes on Spreaker, subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or visit the YouTube archive for Journeys Into Enlightenment with Janet Barrett.

In Episode 5 of Journeys Into Enlightenment with Janet, we look at how we embrace the Unknown. How do we allow for something different when we want some thing different? The some thing is the known. Being comfortable with some thing different is all about appreciating the Unknown and using it as the agent of transformation. The Unknown is Potential. My friend Bud Jahn will join me as we explore and clear the what and why we may be finding ourselves in resistance to what is possible.
Bud Jahn is currently a Certified Alexander Technique teacher with the Contemporary Alexander School of the Alexander Alliance USA.
He has additional trainings in Cranial Sacral, polarity & various energy work such as Living in the Illuminated Heart with Drunvulo Melchizedek, and Matrix Energetics. He has studied with Philip Shepard, “Radical Wholeness” and Frederick Dodson, Reality creation coach.
A former engineer in the oil industry, he combines strong intuitive skills and his deep appreciation for the poet Rumi as an active student of conscious awareness. He lives outside of Anchorage, Alaska seeing clients and offering touch and presence as a Hospice and Respite volunteer caregiver. He can be reached at email@example.com
Our language in awareness is building resonance for us. Just relax and the underneath energies are more vibrant than the words.
We can know something. In this reference, we are at the level of Self. It is our assumptions, emotions thoughts out of reasoning and rationalization. It is all about mind and thinking. It includes false truths, beliefs, what we think we know about life from within our biases.
We can have knowledge of something. This still is Self gathering information about stuff. It is our left brain in function validating and verifying and building logic around. We can call it learning or training. Knowledge is not always truth but projection coming from a viewpoint powerfully enough to create a reality of that viewpoint. May be truth or may be just one person’s viewpoint about something that others now buy into as it has a certain logic to it.
We can know something. This is knowing that is coming from our intuitive senses. Metaphysical terms call this claircognizance. Knowing a thing without verified testing and proving perhaps to the left brain. Comes from right brain which taps into the field of the heart, field of Unified Consciousness. An awareness on some level beyond our personal knowledge.
Unknown holds our curiosity and creativity. It is the Potential of Consciousness, the building medium that is not yet formed into Self as known. It is a state of awareness as part of Consciousness. It is all things and no things.
It exists as duality to Known. Every thing has duality. Your known and unknown are yours. Mine will be different. The collective Unknown is always present. Always right here as part of Essence.
“One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end.”
“When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for you to stand upon or you will be taught to fly.“
“Letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing of all. When there's a big disappointment, we don't know if that's the end of the story. It may just be the beginning of a great adventure. Life is like that. We don't know anything. We call something bad; we call it good. But really we just don't know.“
“Thought within stuck structure, amplified with emotions, felt with the body become reality. This is being dragged around by the ego’ic mind. You sail yourself into physical universe conditions that further amplify the reality.“
“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.“
A line from Rumi’s poem, The Great Wagon
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,Rumi
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.“

Consciousness and Your Known and Unknown
In our exploration of the known and unknown we have been bringing awareness of our deeply held drives and beliefs found in the different levels of awareness we can hold.
One drive as humans is to know. Live or die means we must know stuff. What is out there beyond my fingertips? Hey, what are my fingertips? What is there to explore? To know is at our core... Continue reading…
